Smari Kρητικό Μέλι Πεύκου
From the pine forests that stretch across the mountains of Kalamavka in Ierapetra, we collect the authentic Cretan Smari Pine Honey, a unique product of the Cretan land. This pine honey accounts for approximately 65% of the total honey production in Greece and is derived from the honeydew secretions of the insect Marchalina hellenica (also known as “Vamvakada” or “Worker”), which parasitizes the Aleppo and Maritime pines.
Rich in trace elements and with a low sugar content, pine honey is known for its robust flavor and high nutritional value. This natural product is distinguished by its dark amber color and dense texture, offering strong antioxidant and antibacterial properties.
The traditional harvesting and processing methods we follow ensure the purity and authenticity of the product, bringing the essence and energy of the Cretan forests directly to your table.
